Hello
Fieldwork Architects is a London based architecture and design studio founded by James Owen and Tim Gibbons in 2018. Fieldwork has a collaborative and exploratory approach to design, where shared knowledge and combined experience contribute equally to the end result.
Approach
Every project is treated individually as it must respond to its context. A considered approach to the brief utilises 3D design, physical models and technical expertise to produce a quality result that reflects the clients brief in its entirety.
Research and development is fundamental to Fieldwork’s approach, where each project contributes to the next. Independent research and collaboration, allows the studio’s skill set to grow, to better influence the outcome of the project as a whole and the end result for our clients.
We work on all RIBA stages of our projects, delivering our designs from concept to completion, from new build homes to bespoke interior joinery.
Directors
Tim qualified from Nottingham University before completing his training at award winning Foster and Partners where reaching an Associate position he led teams on a range of projects internationally, including the design and construction of a private dwelling for Lord Foster in the USA. Prior to forming Fieldwork, Tim was a Director at Mailen Design and completed a number of design led projects, culminating in the studio being shortlisted for BD Young Architect of the Year.
James qualified from the University of Manchester. His experience includes working with award-winning UK practices Foster and Partners and Pollard Thomas Edwards. Here he designed a broad range of projects spanning residential, cultural and hospitality work, including RIBA competition winning housing and hotel projects. Prior to forming Fieldwork, he designed and delivered a number of widely publicised residential projects, where he honed his skills in the sector and brings this experience into the practice.
