Renovation of 18th Century Monastery in Cadiz, Spain

Located the mountains of the Los Alcornocales Natural Park, Fieldwork has been appointed to renovate and transform the original Santa Rita Monastery and a series of surrounding bungalows into holiday accommodation.  

 

Our approach combines sensitive restoration with purposeful architectural intervention to modernise the buildings with a careful selection on complementary materials.

Embedded around the landscape and large rock formations, the buildings are unique in their connection to the site and place. The local ecology and environment is fundamental to our approach where historical construction methods and materials inform the proposed modifications.
