BottleHouse, UK

An architectural installation and design research project.

Fieldwork have collaborated alongside small. to design, develop and construct BottleHouse, a low tech modular construction system that utilises single use plastics to create temporary shelters.

The project uses discarded plastic bottles and turns a waste product into a building block, extending the use of a single use plastic into a useable and inhabitable space.

Originally envisaged by small., Fieldwork played a leading role in the design development and realisation of the idea, completing a TEDx event, showcasing a full scale prototype at Clerkenwell Design Week 2019 and exhibiting at the Royal Academy Exhibition Summer Show 2019.

Fieldwork also continued to develop the initial design to create a geodesic dome utilising 3D printed recycled nodes and MilkBottle house that was exhibited at the Grand Designs Show 2019. Other collaborators included Arup Design Studio, BDP Lighting and Ravensbourne University. Photography by Peter Landers.
